(no subject)

I just kissed my two boys off to go to Nana's for two weeks.  The world is too quiet, and I am sad.

I console myself with the knowledge that next weekend, I'll be a guest at PondFilk, which makes me giddy and bubbly inside.  And the boys will be  busy vacationing with Nana, so they won't have to miss me when I'm gone.

Keeping a Weather Eye Out for Trouble

From sunny and bright, to stormy.  We had winds that tore branches off my trees and hurled them horizontally across and completely out of my yard.  Looking up, the clouds spun overhead around my townlet.  Hail the size of pennies and rain came slashing down.  I took my daughter down to the basement, and the small TV said there was a Thunderstorm Watch.

Yeah, being on the country side of the county from whence the weather comes, we don't get warned until the storms actually hit Columbus, around 20 minutes after it would be useful.  They said the winds were above sixty miles per hour, and reports of "cloud rotation."

The Fish Fry down the block, briefly scattered, has started playing music on their PA.

Back upstairs, safe, the storm system past us, my darling daughter has dressed in her frog boots, backpack and a hat, and wants to go for "walkies."  In the rain.  As it gets dark.
