Ride 62: Brought to You by the Movie UP, and Other Pixar Classics

Naturally, Sparkle was NOT with the program.  She wanted to go out for ice cream, which was not in the works.  She then started to agitate for making cookies with me.  I told her, "I will make cookies with you, if you will go bike riding with me."

She went searching for her helmet right away.  My neighbor thought it was a pretty good deal when she heard about it, too.

Sparkle was dubious about all the fallen leaves.  "Watch out!  Leaves are slippery," she kept saying.  She also was nervous about the early evening sun, and was concerned the sun would set before we got home.

We passed a grandpa walking with a toddler grandson, who was dressed in a white cowboy hat, red vest, cowboy boots and who was riding a stick horse.  "Howdy, howdy, howdy, I'm Woody," called Sparkle.  "Ride like the wind, cowboy!"  The grandpa was charmed, and the tot smiled and waved.

Sparkle would be noting things around us, "The sun is..." and then would interrupt herself, pointing excitedly ahead.  "LOOK!  A SQUIRREL!"

"There are peas in that field," she'd say.

"Those are soybeans,"  I'd reply.

"Those soybeans look like LOOK!  A SQUIRREL!"

"Do you want to stop and turn around at the first road," I'd ask, "Or go over the bridge and back."

"I want to LOOK A SQUIRREL! Turn around now, because I want to make cookies."

We got some Thomas the Tank Engine talk for being next to the rail road tracks, and LOOK!  A SQUIRREL! was on the rails.

And LOOK!  A SQUIRREL! were on the trees.

And LOOK!  A SQUIRREL! were just about everywhere.

"Look, cowboy!"  called Sparkle as we passed the tot and his granddad on the way back.  "A SQUIRREL!  Ride 'em, cowboy!"
I wanted a bike ride.  The boys needed transportation to Boy Scouts.  My darling husband suggested that he take the boys for their ride, and I could take Sparkle on mine.

We pulled in as my dh and the boys pulled out, and they boys said they were looking forward to cookies when they returned.

Go 62!

SQUIRREL is LERRIUQS spelled backward.

Just thought you might want to know that.

It's also an anagram of SQUIRLER. Now we just have to find a definition for either
* squirl, vb.
or
* squirl, adj.

I often comment (under my breath) on "moose and squirrel" ala Natasha from Bullwinkle, when I see a squirrel, but I just loved the Up stuff :)!

That sounds like fun. :-)

Were there squirrels in the cookies too?

Squirrel (skwur-rell) is a hard word to pronounce in several languages.

French: "écureuil" (eh-kuhr-oy)

German: "eichhänschen" (eye-chh-hähn-shen)
