Icy driveway
Feb. 24th, 2008 06:41 pmAfter the midwest snow, we got midwest sleet and freezing rain. Our minivan doors froze shut, and the driveway hill was sheer ice. We stayed in for the weekend.
So today, my dh wanted to go get food for us. He couldn't get the van out of the driveway b/c of the ice. He wanted to try my little purple car parked in the garage.
I wasn't keen on him trying to back the pretty purple car up ice past the parked van. So I told him *I'd* get the van on the level part of the driveway for him. He was skeptical, and stood on the sidelines watching me.
I plopped in the van, put it in forward gear to get it out of the wheel ruts, sliding downhill towards the garage wall. Turned the wheels, and moved at a new angle, spitting slush, gravel, mud and ice spears all over the garage door - and my dh. Backed smoothly and gracefully up the hill and onto the flat.
My dh was torn between ticked and laughter. Me doing an end-zone dance, nearly landing on my butt on the ice decided him toward laughter. We now have food.
I'm hoping that tomorrow morning, I'll be able to get my pretty purple baby up out of the garage with equal success. Wish me luck!
