At long last, my passport arrived, just in time for me *NOT* to be able to go to FKO, due to finances. (DH is getting his wisdom teeth out.) I'm glad to have my birth certificate back, too. I had a few minute's panic last week during the flood when I was trying to find it, forgetting I'd sent it away for this purpose.
It has strange blue lines over my picture, which distracts from how hideous the picture is. They are like strange contour map squiggles, or a cartoon depicting me under water. My mom says the old saw is that if you actually look like your passport photo, you're too sick to travel.
My last passport picture was merely under adhesive inside the booklet. This one is more like a driver's license photo, printed directly in the booklet. That page is plasticized. And it's bar-coded on the back cover.
My last one had English and French for personal info. This one adds Spanish. "Visas" is evidently the same in all three languages.
There are pretty patriotic pictures on the visa pages, done in zipitone red white and blue ink.
I feel so worldly, sitting here at home, like I *could* be a world traveler at a moment's notice. Giggle.
