Home safe!
Aug. 20th, 2009 08:12 pmThrough storms, and construction, and Irish being sick to his stomach, we drove the long car trip home, with the kids watching Scooby Doo. (They make pretty good radio plays, actually.)
Sparkle was sad about going, and stated aloud "I gots to say goodbyes? All family live in house." When I asked her what she meant, she listed all of her family "Daddy live in house, mommy live in house, Dino live in house, Irish live in house, Grandma live in house, Grandpa live in house, no goodbyes."
Before the long car trip, this morning, we went on a long walk across the dam. It was a mile across, and a mile back. Dino, used to boy scout hiking from camp this summer, took it in stride, matching speed with my dad and uncle, and going even further, and outpacing us. Irish took it slow and steady, and made it through. Sparkle was asking to be carried by the first quarter mile (I wouldn't) and walked the return mile from park bench to park bench. At each bench, she'd crawl onto my lap and want to be held and rocked. But she made it through all by herself! I was so proud of her. I was hoping it would tire her out for the long ride, and it sort of did, but Sparkle got her wiggle back by half-way home.
