Sparkle thought mommy looked different, and kept frowning when we did one of our daily rituals, sitting on the bed, her face next to mine. "We don't match," she said.

Sparkle said several times that she wanted a haircut. I had strong disbelief, because all previous attempts at trimming at shops had been meltdown experiences.

Her hair was very tangly today, and I told her that combing it would be easier if she had a haircut. Sparkle told me she didn't want a haircut in a way that actually indicated she did. (This is hard to explain, it just matched other ways she's said "no" when she's strongly meant yes.)

So, off we went to the salon. The lady who'd cut my hair there remembered me from yesterday, and we exchanged friendly greetings. Sparkle marched right up to her chair, and declared she was there for a haircut just like mommy's.

She sat like a rock, which is amazing in and of itself. She had eight inches taken off, which was most of the chlorine-damage and old baby curls. It's still shoulder length, a bit longer than mine. Sparkle loves it.

We celebrated her good behavior by going to McDonald's. I am excited, because this means that doing her hair won't be such a daily struggle.
