Fri. 3/26:  10 hours sleep
Sat. 3/27:  8 hours sleep
Sun. 3/28:  6 hours sleep

Tracking Sparkle sleep.  Today, a few minutes ago, she went down for a nap.  She *never* naps.

Temperament sunny.  (Not unusual at home.)  Some bursts of temper when told no, compliant after multiple redirects with advancing proximity.  No time outs needed.

Wants to stay in cotton PJs all day.  Not going out, so I'm letting her.  Has been taking my hand and stroking her hair with it, clambering on me for cuddles and attention.  Less talking.

Makes sense to me

I've been staying in cotton PJs all day when not going out. Heck I like cotton PJs for long road trips (I find that I don't care what the people at the truck stop think of my clothes.)

She has sensory issues, and likes cotton. Dislkes polyester, iron ons, wool, and ribbed shirts. Turtlenecks turn her inside out.

She also likes linen, cashmere and silk, just like momma.

Sleep

It would be interesting to know how much of Sparkle's sleep was REM sleep. When I was doing my sleep study for setting my CPAP pressure one of the techs said I was dreaming a lot. I felt a difference in outlook immediately.

I'm thinking that with only five or six hours of sleep, Sparkle only had one "deep" REM cycle.

Is 6 hours better than it was before the start of the drug? You also haven't mentioned that she's running so I'm assuming that's maybe not happening. I'd be curious to know (perhaps Brook knows) how long it takes for maximum effect. Keeping fingers crossed.

Raining today, so no cross-country escapades.

The doctor and the special needs coordinator both said it took time to build up in the system, like two weeks, but that we should also start seeing results right away if we were going to get any.

She had a three-hour nap this afternoon, and has been very awake and chipper since.

Five or six hours a night. Usually 10 PM to 4 AM. And then no naps all day, either. DH and I took turns as to who would get up with her so that we could stagger through our days ourselves.

So it's early days, but showing some early improvement. Ian (My middle and most "normal" child) wonders why we do this. He's not sure he could deal with regular kids. He wonders what would happen if he had one with special needs. He looks at me oddly when I tell him that being a parent is the best job I have ever had and I can't imagine a better one. Even with all the ups and downs. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Keep up the good work. Sparkle has the best parents she could possible have, and terrific brothers from whatyou say. Going to bed now. It's late.
