Visit to Hospital Gives Me a Clue

A friend was hospitalized yesterday, so I decided to stop by for a short visit. As I did not have cash on hand, I parked three blocks from the hospital and hiked (in 97 degree heat) to the hospital.
Walking in, I had two separate hospital staff try to guide me to maternity. Evidently, my flushed face, limping walk and ample belly all made them think I was about to spawn.
I assured them that I was only visiting a friend, and was not on my way to maternity today, thus skipping the whole "But I'm not pregnant," awkward conversation. Twice.
The old lady in the elevator up to see my friend eyed my belly and reached as if to pat it, but was intercepted by a female relative my age, who suddenly shifted between us. I thought of
hsifyppah , and her new song.
I visited my friend, who is bummed but philosophical regarding his stay. I kept it short, and did not talk too much for a change. I didn't want to tire him out too much.
On the way out, another staff attempted to guide me to maternity, actually taking my elbow as I was walking down the hall and made a "wrong" turn.
Conclusion: Must do Something about my tummy. Tae Kwon Do is a good start. Getting back to Wii Fit will be another. Walking in the heat? Maybe when it's cooler...
