Swim, swim, bike, bake

Swim lessons for Sparkle this morning. She made it the entire length of the pool from shallow to deep end doing side stroke! Usually, she incorporates a bit of dog paddle, but today, she showed some stamina.
I managed twelve laps during her lesson instead of my usual ten.
I melted chocolate and butter and made chilled cookie dough for chocolate pixies, my favorite cookie ever. The powdered sugar coating the cookie stays in once place as the chocolate spreads while baking, making roads and earthquake rifts in the cookies. This time, I took my marble pie slab and put it in the freezer ahead of time, so that I could roll the gooey mix on it, and it stayed firm. I shall have to remember that trick, because it worked exceedingly well. I also used medical gloves, and those made it easier, too. The chocolate did not melt as fast in my hands with the rubber barrier.
This afternoon, Sparkle reminded me that it was Wednesday, which during the school year meant going to the YMCA for the Wheaties program to look after her during free swim time, as I did exercise (usually laps.) I figured, why not? So, I hung up our wet suits outside on the porch. By the time it was time to leave, everything was quite dry, which is faster than it dries downstairs hanging in the basement. So, we went, and I first tread water for fifteen minutes, then rest break where Sparkle and I "lay out" on the reclining chairs while holding hands, tread water again for fifteen minutes, then swam five laps for fifteen minutes. I thought those five laps would kill me. I got a cramp in my leg and foot, and sat in the hot tub for six minutes before getting back in the pool with Sparkle.
The only way she would leave is that it was rest break, and I promised our bike ride. I waited until evening today, because it was 97 degrees just after noon, and I really, really, did not wish to ride in that kind of heat. When we started, it was only 85 degrees. It was nice feeling a cooler breeze, but with the extra swimming, my legs were rubber by the end of the trip, and I was cross and out of sorts.
So, the cookies are in the oven, and they smell delicious. They will be my special treat for being productive today.

Date: 2011-06-09 11:44 am (UTC)You're doing great. I bet you and Sparkle are sleeping pretty well too.
I found some exercises in a book and tried a few of them last night. I'm stiff and sore this morning, so hopefully they did some good.
