Snow day like today for cleaning.
Jan. 28th, 2009 05:46 pm So, it's been a snow day here in Columbus, Ohio. My children and husband *expected* a day of sloth and maybe fun in the snow. What they *got* was eight solid hours of picking up the house, reorganizing, vacuuming and scrubbing.
At no time ever has the house looked better. I almost want my mother to visit this weekend to the effort is appreciated (grin). There's still a waaaaays for it to go before it is Better Homes and Gardens ready, but there's more floor space, all the toys are put in bins, much laundry has been put away while more is splooshing clean, the piano is accessible, and all the beds are made. In addition, many pieces missing puzzles are now reunited with the rest of their pictures.
I did boot the kids outside with their father for an hour or so to take advantage of the snow, and they sledded down the back gentle slope, and played war games around the fort. (My darling husband would make snowballs for Sparkle, and she'd take them and immediately throw them at him.) I got a lot done on my own while they were outside, and served hot chocolate with marshmallows when they came in.
I've decided that this evening can be family relaxation time. It's quieter than usual for this time of night. The kids aren't wishing for another snow day tomorrow, for some reason.
