Communication Meltdowns

 Sparkle has been melting down frequently.  Since I cannot talk, I have not been answering her attempts at conversation with anything other than nods and gestures, and these don't match up with the scripts she wants.

She keeps reverting more and more towards baby talk and tantrums as a result, and I am ill-equipped to deal, being sick as I am.

It's times like these when I realize how much of Sparkle's communication is dependent on the full-participatory reactions of her listeners, and how fragile "normal" is.

The Magnificent Magna-Doodle

As posted previously, Sparkle was upset about my non-verbal participation in her conversations.  I've been writing both her comments, then my replies on a large Magna-Doodle.

To my great delight, Sparkle is reading the scripts, and my answers, and this is an acceptable way of communicating!  I am so grateful for emerging literacy.  Really, I am.
