I pulled in late last night from animae night with friends. As I was unloading my van, I turned around, and there, in the light from my vehicle, close enough to kick, was my buddy the coyote.

He was sitting down, head cocked, with a big canine grin, tail wagging. A thrill went through me, with my arms all loaded up with bags and purse and stuff. He got up, tail wagging, and trotted off into the darkness.

Wow.

That's definitely a "Wow!" Glad all y'all survived the flooding (and other acrobatics).

Wow. He must know you consider him a friend, not a varmint.

I had a surprise visitor (http://maiac.livejournal.com/127117.html) this morning.

Oops, I assumed you'd click the link. I saw a Cooper's hawk in my back yard.

It didn't show up as an obvious link until I moused over it. What a kewl picture!

One of the bunnies in my yard once got carried away by a hawk as I was doing dishes looking out of the window. It was freaky.

I must say, I'd have been scared to death. Thrilled, but scared to death.

Since it was so late, I thought it was the neighbor's dog for a moment, before remembering the dog had passed away months ago. Then, I was frozen! Not yet scared, and then it left, and I was thrilled.

I second the recommendation for the Daily Coyote. Definitely take a look since you're coyote-friendly. :-)

That sounds like a coyote asking to be domesticated.

Not with a gun-toting neighbor threatening to shoot it, nor my complete lack of knowledge about canines!
